Aldi outdoor clothing range – Specialbuy
Rain and wind needn’t spoil exploring the great outdoors. Perfect for amblers, family outings and intrepid explorers, Aldi’s Outdoor range of clothes and footwear for adults and children goes into stores on 11 September, available while stocks last. And if you missed Aldi’s outdoor clothing Specialbuy or can’t get to a store, check the bottom of my post for some alternatives.
Whatever the weather, keep little feet happy with Children’s Warm Lined Rainboots (£5.99). Perfect for playing outdoors, the boots mean kids can have a splashing good time, without having to suffer in soggy socks.
Ensure tiny toes stay extra toasty in Aldi’s Children’s Welly Socks (£2.29). And young fans are sure to fall in love with Aldi’s Children’s Character Umbrellas (£2.99), which feature favourites such as Planes, Spiderman, Disney Princesses or Minnie Mouse.…

DIY workshop range at Aldi
I for one am going to give Mr Bargain a not too gentle nudge and tell him to get down to Aldi to check out their new workshop range which hits the stores on 14 August. He’s popped in already and got himself a mega broom for £10….at least he’s happy!
Here are my favourite pieces from the range:
5 Piece Ratchet Wrench Set, £12.99
Featuring chrome-plated hardened steel and flexible ratchet heads, no tool kit should be without this great value wrench set.
4-in-1 Hacksaw, £4.99
At 30cm wide and with an adjustable angle, this Hacksaw is perfect for up-cycling furniture or odd jobs around the house, and comes with space for storing 2 spare blades in the handle.
6 Piece Long Reach Screwdriver Set, £9.99
Made from hardened steel and …

Great value new in-shower products
I wanted to share the three items that are currently my favourite things to use in the shower – they are all relatively new to the market. They are Aldi Lacura shower face washes and scrubs, Nivea in-shower moisturisers and Elvive’s new thickening shampoo and conditioners.
Basically they are all beauty and grooming products that save me time in the morning and are good value.
Lacura facial washes and scrub
As I walked past the toiletries in Aldi I saw the Lacura’s Gentle Face Wash Gel. Since the cost of the face wash is so low – £1.29 for 150 ml – I thought what the heck and bought one, even though my skin has had a bad experience with a Lacura moisturiser (granted it was a few years ago.)
A little goes a long …

Channel 4 Dispatches – Supermarket Wars
Watched dispatches Supermarket Wars tonight. It was interesting to see how the Big Four supermarket sales are stagnating or decreasing while they are growing by 23% for Lidl and 39% at Aldi.
While the discount stores aren’t pretty, one of the reasons they can keep their prices low is that they don’t offer the variety as do larger supermarkets.
On average supermarkets stock 30,000 different products while discounters stock 1,000+ items. So less products, mean less storage, people needed and costs.
One lady said she would have spent £100 at Sainsbury’s but instead she got her shop for £53.
However, the discounters are not only for the cash strapped, but are also offering a small range of “posh nosh” which helps to change middle-class consumers’ perceptions. I wrote last week about the riding gear special …

Riding gear at Aldi – special buy
Now I must admit that I do buy Aldi’s ski gear, so was interested to see that they have a new equestrian range for 2014.
I am sad that Aldi do a “once it’s gone it’s gone” policy, but I also like the excitement of thinking what treasure will I find in store this week. Rather like when Tchibo had stores in the UK, I loved those guys too.
Unfortunately, I know that you may read this post after July 2014, the range is in shops from 24 July, so where possible I have listed other places to buy great value riding gear online in case you miss the great deal at Aldi.
I must admit while looking around, I can see that Aldi offers seriously good value and it was too hard to find …

Rekorderlig vs Aldi’s alska strawberry and lime cider
Mr Bargain likes Rekorderlig strawberry and lime cider and as of today he also likes The Swedish Cider company’s alska strawberry and lime cider, which is available at Aldi.
Today I spotted Aldi’s offer in the fruit flavoured cider market, so its alternative to Rekorderlig and bought him a bottle.
He likes Rekorderlig cider and has been drinking it for over a year and likes the fact that it’s light but still alcoholic – 4% – and tastes good.
They are both from Sweden and the bottles look very similar, either look stylish enough to bring out and impress friends at a BBQ for instance. In terms of taste, he says that there’s not much difference, but for his own palette he prefers the Aldi stocked alska cider as it’s a little less tart.
And …

Gardening special buys at Aldi
My drive to save money on gardening this year is paying off. Instead of spending over £500 to get some work done in the garden, we’ve found out how to do it ourselves….while hard work, we’re getting there as our lawn is looking better and the borders are too.
As part of my making my garden beautiful, I bought some self-watering troughs from Aldi a few weeks ago and am kicking myself that I didn’t buy more. At £3.49 a trough, that price was great, but they’re all gone now. So I am keenly watching what else Aldi has got coming up in terms of gardening bargains for us amateur gardeners and they’ve got another gardening Special Buys on 19 June.
Here are the products that interest me the most.
Essential Lawnmower, £34.99
Aldi’s offering …

Camping gear at Aldi – new Specialbuys range
If you need to replace old camping gear or looking to try out camping for the first time, Aldi is offering an alternative to traditional outdoors stores, with a new camping range, that hit the stores yesterday.
The discount store seems to want to provide the lot, from tents and tables to sleeping bags and sound systems. They’ve got bags, pillows, insect repellent socks, tripod stools and lots of useful gear coming. Here are some of the highlights of the range:
Pop Up Tent at £19.99
Quick to assemble and big enough to accommodate three adults comfortably. Its handy porch entrance is great for storing muddy boots and making meals.
Mummy style sleeping bag at £17.99
Available in dark grey with choice of beige, green or blue zip, the bag is tapered for extra snugness …

Aldi goes large – new plus size range of women’s clothes in store
With the average dress size now 16, Aldi is also trying to muscle in on the growing (no pun intended) plus size market with its announcement today of a range for women wearing 16 – 30 clothes.
The range focuses on casual clothing and is in store from today. They’ve got essential wear, wide fitting loafers, tights and undies. I do buy Aldi clothes and they are usually a hit, especially thermals for skiing, gloves and accessories, so I’d be happy to seem them succeed with this range of clothing. Here is some of the range:
Shorty PJs, £8.99 (Sizes: 18-28)
Made from comfy cotton, these cool Shorty PJs come with a top and shorts and are available in two fun designs, so you can head to bed feeling cool and looking fabulous.

Poundland and Aldi prices in Morrisons and Tesco’s
Our Morrisons is having a major revamp and it’s part of a bigger drive to cut prices for consumers.
I recently asked if Morrisons could really take on Aldi and Lidl in terms of pricing. Well, let’s just say, they’re having a good go at it.
On 1 May, Morrisons pledged to cut the price of 1,200 products by an average of 17pc. I saw evidence of this today in my shop, with a firm favourite Jammie Dodgers down to 49p from over a £1.09. This price matches Aldi’s.
Looks like Morrisons is banking on the price cuts to encourage shoppers to spend more at the shop and less at Aldi and Lidl. Now I would welcome that as I would be able to get everything in one place and prefer Morrisons products sometimes.
The …
