Bargain christmas gift round up
Now is the time to get those presents bought as there are not too many shopping days left Christmas day. Here is a round-up of my favourite bargain Christmas gift ideas – most in at less than £20 each, though a few in at more are very good buys IMHO.
They are in no particular order as I figure that most of us have a few different people to buy for. Remember if you buy online, you’ll probably have to pay postage and packaging :-(, but always use a cashback site if you can. If you have any to add, please put them in the comments.

12 gins of Christmas advent calendar from B&M bargain store
Gin really is the most fashionable tipple at the mo, and I’m sure it will be on many Christmas lists, so this is an awesome pre-Xmas treat for the gin lover in your life as bargain store B&M launches a gin advent calendar.
The ‘Twelve Gins of Christmas’ advent calendar is filled with 12 miniature bottles of gin to enjoy in the run up to Christmas.
The calendar contains a range of gin brands including classics like Bombay Sapphire, Gordon’s Pink gin and botanical tipples such as JJ Whitely Elderflower gin. The quirky advent calendar is sure to sell out quickly as it’s priced at £29.99, it is one of the most affordable alcoholic advent calendars on the market – probably cos it’s only got 12 gins, but it’s still a nice idea at a… -
Christmas gift generator
Run out of ideas for Christmas gifts? Well get some inspiration from this random Christmas Gift Generator.
All of the gift ideas are available online (some of the items on the list are affiliate links, but any profit from these will go to charity) and cost under £20 as presents don’t have to be expensive to be awesome. For example, Dog Bingo is just £19.95 and I’m not sure how much more fun you could have than this.
Fear not, the gift generator does have some logic behind it and isn’t entirely random. For example, if you are shopping for your 85 year old Granny who loves nature, we probably won’t be suggesting the 90s pack for Cards Against Humanity. Although if she is into games then we can’t guarantee this won’t pop up.…

Christmas alchohol gifts ideas
So, booze is definitely a favourite of many as a Christmas gift. While I love a prosecco or rose, Mr Bargain Hunter looks port, red wine and flavoured ciders, so we both had a look at some picks from Aldi to see what we’d be tempted to give, or even receive this Christmas. Oh and you get free standard delivery on most their alcohol so that’s even better, if they still have the stock…as once it’s gone…it’s gone.
Prosecco & Truffles
Great Secret Santa gift idea for lovers of chocolate and Prosecco at just £4.79 for 200 ml and five truffles.
Rioja Classics Gift Pack
Well presented in a smart box, looks more expensive than it is at £17.99, and great flavour on both bottles. You get two 750 ml bottles in a box. Here’s …

7 ways to help save money in the new year
So is the season to be skint! Don’t worry as you can splurge now and then cut back in the New Year and here’s some hints about how:
1. Recycle Christmas gifts
Keep all unwanted Christmas gifts that cannot be returned for a refund in the packaging and recycle to save you buying some gifts for people during the year. Be sure to make a note of who the gift was from to avoid giving it back to that person! Keep pretty bows, gift bags and packaging to reuse and avoid buying yourself – under the mattress is a good storage place to keep gift bags nice and flat.
2. Plans for leftover food
According to www.lovefoodhatewaste.com, in the UK we waste £12.5bn every year throwing away food. With a little planning, we could …

With just six months to go until the biggest, and often most expensive, holiday of the year, now is the time to start planning your finances so that you can begin 2017 free from Christmas related money worries.
With summer still ahead of us, many of us will shiver at the thought of planning for tinsel, turkey and gift tags. Christmas Savings Card – budgeting tool idea
So we have less than 80 days to Christmas and I’m already thinking about Xmas lunch and gift ideas, so time to set some money aside.
Today I heard about the Asda Money Christmas Savers Card, which acts as a saving tool for Asda customers to prepare for the cost of Christmas. Asda customers can add money onto their card at the checkout each time they shop.
The maximum amount customers are able to load onto their cards is £144. To reward customers for their savings Asda pays a bonus, or interest, onto the card which can be spent however the customer wishes either at Christmas or in the New Year in store. It’s not much, but as a rival says, Every Little Helps:
- For saving £144 – the customer is awarded £6
