Betel shops for restored and overstock furniture at great prices
I stumbled upon the Betel charity after walking past one of its furniture shops. They have some lovely furniture, so today I popped in for a good browse, and also had some tea and pumpkin and ginger cake in their cafe.
One of the guys there, who had been helped by the charity, explained that the shop gets its stock from India, The Netherlands and France and they buy container loads, so can keep the prices low.
They also restore furniture and had lots of shabby chic products. The friendly guy explained that they have their own workshops so that’s why certain products were low cost. Finally, they get overstocks from department stores and when I popped in, they had stock from Debenhams.
A bit about the charity that the sales support, so that you …

8 tips to looking richer than you really are
I get annoyed when people, especially in posh shops judge me by my appearance. Once the assistant knows that I am not there to window shop, their attitude changes.
I have enough friends and I know that judging on appearances is wrong, so I should walk out, but in the end, snooty shop assistants are there to serve me, whether they like the look of me or not. In the short term, snooty shop assistants will always exist, so sometimes, when I can be bothered, I have learnt some basics to get better treatment (which includes getting free make up and beauty product samples;-)) anywhere.
1. Get a good haircut – basically looking well groomed is one key to looking like you have more than you really do. Go your local beauty school to get …

Interesting Nectar card facts and why you should use Nectar
Now I am a loyalty card fan and Nectar is one of my favourites, so I’ve been checking my points balance and was happy to find out that I have enough for some lovely goodies at the Nectar eShops.
I know that most of you will have a card, but even if you have, here are some really interesting facts about the card and why if you haven’t got it, you should get one now!
The most important facts
- Nectar is the UK’s largest loyalty programme with over 19 million cardholders earning Nectar points when shopping for groceries, doing DIY, booking a holiday, paying household bills, buying petrol and even getting their car serviced
- Nectar was awarded the “Best card-based loyalty programme” at the 2012 Loyalty Awards for Europe and the Middle East

Low cost yet fashionable shoes – Linzi.com
Now if you’ve been following my Twitter, you’ll see that like most women, I love shoes.
I sometimes buy shoes that I don’t really wear that much. For instance, I needed some new boots and instead of the shops, I headed to my collection and dug out two pairs that had heels and soles that evidenced that they had hardly been worn. And sometimes, I buy shoes because they are just gorgeous.
Anyway, I’ve been hunting around for reasonably priced online shoe shops and found Linzi.com. They have stores in the East End of London and Essex, but hey that’s too far for me to travel. I asked them to help me with 2014 spring shoe trends, so that I can get low cost shoes that are bang on trend. Anyway, the lovely people …

14 quick and easy money saving tips for 2014
Here are 14 quick and easy money saving tips for 2014.
1. Set a realistic budget – the first thing to do is gather all of the information about your income and outgoings and create a realistic budget. Be honest, don’t set yourself goals you know you won’t stick to!

Protect yourself legally when making extra money
It’s that time of year again when money is tight and time is sparse and there’s only so much we can squeeze out of our income, so why not turn to other ways of making a bit of extra cash.
But beware, if you are renting your car parking space, working from home or taking in a lodger, you still need to protect yourself and one way is to draw up some legal documents to cover you in case of a misunderstanding later on.
There’s an online firm legal firm called Rocket Lawyer and they have stacks of legal documents to download. The first document is free and there’s a three day trial where you can take a look at other documents, so it’s worth a search around on their site.
Here are some ideas …

Quit smoking and save loads
In my 20s I used to smoke, but Mr BH said it’s either me or the fags, so I gave up. As well as the health risks, smoking costs a small fortune. Check out this handy Smoking Calculator from the NHS to see how much money you could save by giving up. The image above is the saving for someone smoking 20 a day.
I figured that plenty of you will be looking to quit smoking around this time of year, so as I don’t smoke, I asked my friend, who has just given up, to give me the low down on how she is coping and saving money. I was offered some free electric cigarettes, and gave them to her, so she’s even given feedback on them.
“If, like me, your New Year resolution …
