Budget at Budgens for Christmas
There are less than five weeks to Christmas and I am looking around for shopping ideas. Budgens isn’t somewhere I would normally consider, as I don’t have one near me, but recently I had the chance to take a wander around.
Budgens are smallish local stores and have both their own ranges and also stock well known brands, at pretty decent prices. There are more than 150 Budgens stores across the UK ranging from petrol forecourts to neighbourhood supermarkets, independently owned by Budgens retailers. Budgens retailers “care about the quality, provenance and value of their food, and their communities’ needs”. Budgens was recently named the ‘best top-up shop’ at the CTP awards, voted for by 20,000 UK shoppers.
Here are the items that caught my eye:

Pretty tin of Conte colouring pencils – gift idea
Another gorgeous Christmas gift idea for the artist in your life. Master Bargain Hunter was over the moon when he recently got these pencils, so I thought I’d share with you.
Firstly, the colours are so bright and vibrant so fantastic for someone who loves drawing or even for a new adult colouring book fan. They come in a nice tin, so great for carrrying them around if the user doesn’t have a pencil case, and you can get them in packs of 12 or 24.
The quality is excellent, so rather than buying a cheaper pack that doesn’t last, these are a better option. They look great too as they are black except for the coloured leds.
Master BH informed me that as they are quite soft, it’s easier to build up colour with …

Customised diaries and journals – gift idea
Another nice gift idea – a customised diary or journal. TOAD Diaries can be easily customised when ordering, so that you can create the perfect gift for your friends and family that use diaries or journals.
You can choose from different covers, different layouts and sizes. You can even chose when the diary starts. I chose a pretty flowery design, A4, starting in December 2015 and one week over two pages. I like the bound version as I can put a pen down the spiral binding. The diary I chose retailed at just over £11, so very reasonable for a personalised book.
The diaries are wire bound, with a thick plastic cover, a ribbon to save your page, holder for your business card, a great little pocket at the bag for little things that need …

Awesome family game gift idea – Mr & Mrs
As part of my series on Christmas gift ideas, here’s a TV gameshow game that I would recommend. Either for yourselves at Christmas as after-dinner party game or as a gift for another family or couple, this is a great game. Athough it’s called Mr & Mrs, any pair can play, so we had Mr BH and his sister vs me and my son, and we laughed A LOT. We had five people so the “spare” became the host.
In the game, you get question cards, paddles cards, pads – the only thing you need to provide yourself is the pens/pencils. Questions are multi-choice and include “who would your partner say has the best smile in the room”, “where would your partner like to go on holiday most”.
There are some expansion packs that you …

imPress press on manicure – gift idea
This is another product that caught my eye as manicures are such a nice gift, but are often expensive and time consuming and inflexible, in terms of appointment availability and waiting time.
I do however have a friend that comes to my house to take care of my nails, but can’t really “gift” her to all my friends and family, so along come imPRESS press-on manicure nails.
I roped in my neighbour whose nails could do with some care and attention and we try out the nails as they are around £6 and should last a week!
In the box you get 24 ultra-shine gel nails and 6 accent nails. You also get a prep pad, a file and some instructions.
Firstly as the nails were mainly …

No added sugar chocolate – Chocologic – gift idea
As part of my Christmas gift blog posts, I am picking out a few things that really catch my eye, and no added sugar chocolate that is affordable and tastes good, definitely got me interested, especially as I am two months into my no added sugar way of eating.
Tesco stocks Chocologic and for a sharing bar at £1 – £2 and other gift ideas, this is a product I have been waiting for…and I’ll probably be gifting it to myself every week ;-0.
So what’s the secret? It uses a sweetener alternative – Steviol glycosides, more commonly known as Stevia, a natural sweetener from the leaves of the plant species, Stevia rebaudiana. The extract is combined with cocoa to create bars, seashells and a selection box of dark, milk and white chocolate.
What’s fab …
