Awesome family game gift idea – Mr & Mrs
As part of my series on Christmas gift ideas, here’s a TV gameshow game that I would recommend. Either for yourselves at Christmas as after-dinner party game or as a gift for another family or couple, this is a great game. Athough it’s called Mr & Mrs, any pair can play, so we had Mr BH and his sister vs me and my son, and we laughed A LOT. We had five people so the “spare” became the host.
In the game, you get question cards, paddles cards, pads – the only thing you need to provide yourself is the pens/pencils. Questions are multi-choice and include “who would your partner say has the best smile in the room”, “where would your partner like to go on holiday most”.
There are some expansion packs that you …

A cashback site that helps you save for your kids
So today, I heard about KidStart – a free shopping club for families that enables you to save money for your kids while you shop.
It’s a bit like a rewards card or a cashback site, but across thousands of retailers – a lot of which you probably already shop at – Amazon, John Lewis, Achica, Boots, M&S, Ebay, Argos, Next, Waitrose, Saindsbury’s etc – and you get actual money rather than points.
KidStart is a similar service to TopCashback and Quidco, the difference is that it is all about saving for your children rather than just ‘cash back’, which has benefits…it means that the service is able to work with different retailers who are less keen to work with ‘cash back’ companies. Partners such as John Lewis, Amazon, eBay, Waitrose and Sainsburys are working …

What on earth is Qwiddle? It’s an online piggybank.
Qwiddle launched in 2014 with a clear objective – to teach children about good money habits. As an online piggybank, Qwiddle is powered by PayPal and lets children manage their pocket money in a safe environment.
Qwiddle is free and empowers children by giving them a degree of independence with their money helping them to learn about spending or saving, under their parent’s supervision. It is designed to help children aged between 8-15 years learn good money skills in the increasingly cashless society we live in.
Each child has their own Qwiddle PayPal account – which is owned and controlled by parents – where they can:
- Make online payments using PayPal’s robust infrastructure – all payments must be supervised by the parent
- Set goals for the things they want – a kickback against impulse spending

5 ways to teach your kids about money
Have you ever asked yourself if your children are money smart? Do they know how to handle money sensibly and responsibly? Teaching children how to manage finances is a hugely important skill and a concept that needs to be introduced at an early stage, helping the next generation to develop good money practices before they reach adulthood.
The most important thing when teaching your children about money is to start early; research indicates that children begin to develop their money habits around the age of seven. Kids are incredibly receptive and when talking about developing healthy attitudes, in the same way you might start encouraging them to eat vegetables, you should start to talk to them about money and spending.
So I did a bit of research and found Qwiddle, an new online piggybank for …

Are you financially prepared for a baby?
One of the most exciting times in a couple’s life is the experience their first child brings them. Although, there is a seemingly endless list of everything that needs to be prepared in await of their arrival. The experience could easily become an overwhelming one which is why research and thorough planning should be done well ahead.
With the average cost of raising a child from birth to the age of 21 stands at an estimated £229,251 (ouch!), it’s clear that money saving should be part of the agenda when a new baby comes along.
Planning ahead is crucial in order to create a financially realistic budget in which you can stick too. With use of the baby cost calculator realistic planning is exactly what you are able to do. This interactive app allows you …

Stamptastic – another way to label kids things
As you may know I can’t be doing with sewing name labels in and am always on the lookout for ways to label kit. If I could have a homing device for every single belonging I would!
I have tried many products and in terms of durablity, I would say Stikins are very good, but even they disappear in the wash after a year or so…..they end up leaving a black “empty” label where the white name label used to be.
Now today I am going to introduce you to Stamptastic. Basically, it’s a new way of labelling your clothes…no peeling, no ironing, no sewing….just stamp!!!!
I have got a couple of stamps, which are stuck onto good quality plastic blocks, which is fab as you can see which way up you’re stamping. I …

Freebies for mums and babies
Kids are very expensive. I have one going through a massive growth spurt at the mo, so anything to save money on my darlings is welcome.
I came across a new site that could help with babies and younger children. After all, the need for an endless supply of nappies, wet wipes, new baby clothes, baby food etc can certainly put a strain on the family finances.
Any saving helps and a freebie is the ultimate saving. There are a lot of freebie sites around, but this one is dedicated to a particular niche. Children’s toy and gift retailer Born Gifted have compiled an handy, up-to-date list of mum and baby freebies currently available. These range from nappies, skincare products, weaning spoons, food samples and more. There are also freebies aimed at keeping older children …
