BillHub launches to simplify spliting and managing shared bills
Free-to-use utility billing service, BillHub has launched in the UK. It is designed to allow housemates – from students to young professionals – to split all their monthly bills and keep track of the exact outgoing payments from all parties online or via an app.
The BillHub makes the bill payment process more convenient, transparent and secure for renters. With the number of renters rising, since deposits are getting higher, it’s annoying that one person has to pay the bills and claim money from other occupants, so BillHub could be a great solution.
Users of the platform can mix and match the energy and internet providers they want from a range of providers which BillHub has partnered with – these include energy providers GenRent and Spark Energy, and broadband companies Virgin Media, Plusnet and TenTel. …

Research reveals UK consumers love coupons, saving £3.3 billion
By using coupons and vouchers, savvy UK shoppers saved £3.3 billion over the last year, based on new consumer research released by Valassis Limited, a UK coupon and voucher services provider.
Overall, 86 percent of supermarket shoppers use coupons with 40 percent indicating increased use from the previous year. Perhaps surprisingly, 50 percent of full-time workers revealed increased coupon usage, 12 percentage points higher than the previous year.
The survey found that 45 percent of shoppers are looking for promotional offers more than a year ago, eight percentage points higher than the previous year’s response. Younger consumers are more likely to look for deals with 55 percent of 25 to 34 year olds looking for offers compared to 28 percent of those 65 and older.
“Consumers increasingly seek out value and from a number …

New price tracking site launches – Notifyy
A new website that notifies users when a product they’re interested in has dropped in price has launch. The site tracks over 250 high street an online stores, including Amazon and Tesco.
To track an item, users simply input the product’s URL on the site, add their email address and they are then notified when the price drops. The site also enables users to set a “target” price of how much they want the product to have dropped to before getting a notification.
Notifyy is the brainchild of web developer Daniel Benzie who wanted to be told when a designer clothing product he wanted to buy had dropped in price. There is another similar app that I wrote about back in 2015 for comparison. Daniel decided to build his own that he then shared privately …

Annual car breakdown cover for £25
Sick of paying for breakdown cover but never using it? Well the AA may have the answer.
I was looking for new cover for my car, and as the last time I called out a recovery service was 1992, I begrudgingly searched the internet. I believe it’s better to be safe than stuck on the M6 on a rainy night with no cover.
Anyway, the smile came back to my face when I found AA’s Basic Breakdown Cover. It 24/7 roadside assistance for breakdowns over 1/4 mile from home. Covers one vehicle for anyone driving it. And here’s the catch…..it’s limited to one call-out a year. Further call-outs available on a pay-for-use basis. Oh well that is just perfect!
They’ll cover any roadworthy vehicle, such as a car, motorbike, van, caravan or minibus as long …

Travel Insurance – finding the right cover
I am currently having a nightmare with home insurance, so I would always think super carefully, before buying any insurance in the future. With summer just around the corner (honest), many of us are already sifting through brochures, planning that all important holiday.
Travel insurance is important, and I would not want to be without it in foreign climes. The folks at Swinton Insurance sent me some tips to share with you on getting an insurance policy that’s right for you.
Check what’s included
When choosing your travel insurance, it’s good to ensure that the policy has a range of benefits, including cover for medical expenses, cancellation and curtailment, and baggage. Some policies also offer cover for travel disruption, which can protect you in the event of strikes, airline failures and missed connections. If you’re …

Flipper automatically switches energy suppliers for you
You may like the idea of constantly switching energy supplier for a cheaper deal, but who has the time? While Onedox will alert you to the best deals, so that you can make that decision, I’ve just heard about Flipper, the “personal energy shopper”.
For a fee of £25, Flipper will automatically move your account to the lowest-cost provider, searching for a switching to the best possible tariff as they arise, rather than being a simple comparison service.
It claims to save users £200 – £300 per year, and it will refund the £25 fee if savings are less than £50. The service guarantees savings on gas and electricity compared with the average of the cheapest variable tariffs offered by the ‘big six’ suppliers – EDF, npower, British Gas, ScottishPower, Eon and SSE (formerly …

Discounted eating out for two
I got my mitts on a Tastecard last week, and it is very useful to get money off at a large number of restaurants, especially if you are two people and like eating out weekdays.
You are able to enjoy meals at some top and popular eateries, including Pizza Express, ASK, Zizzis, whilst saving money on two-for-one and 50 per cent deals.
I have both an actual Tastecard, and I have downloaded the Tastecard app – which has some great features, for example it identifies where you are, and spots restaurants nearby. It can also work out restaurants based on your cuisine preference. You can also input the money you saved and it gives you a tally, to basically show you the savings you make, so that when you’ve paid off the investment in the… -
Save money with automatic updates on cheaper tariffs and contract end dates
Want one tool to give you an overview of your spending, important renewal dates and cheaper tariffs? For your gas, electric, internet, TV, landline and mobile phone bills, Onedox could be the answer.
Onedox keeps bill information up-to-date in one place, and sends you alerts to let you know when your contract term is up and that you should consider switching tariff to save money.
I started using Onedox recently, and was immediately impressed that it knew when my MOT was going to run out and also my road tax. I was also chuffed to learn that my EE contract is coming to the end of its minimum term in a few weeks, and I should be looking for a cheaper tariff with my existing provider at least.
The Onedox interface provides access to all…

Easter dinner from Aldi at £3.80 per head
This Easter, at Aldi, customers can feed a family of four for £3.80 per head – cheaper than a single luxury Easter egg in most UK supermarkets – and to celebrate, the supermarket has rather strangely (IMHO) commissioned a life-sized chocolate dining table, complete with a lamb roast dinner and all the trimmings.
Aldi’s edible and intricately crafted ‘Chocolate Roast’ includes everything you’d expect on a Easter celebration table including a Whole Leg of Fresh British Lamb (£3.79 per kilogram) and Good Housekeeping Institute approved Specially Selected Hot Cross Buns (99p, 4 pack), as well as cutlery and plates.
Accompanied by fluffy Maris Piper potatoes (£1.89, 2.5kg), garden peas (69p, 907g), fresh carrots (45p, 1kg) and Bramwell’s Mint Sauce (39p, 180g), this yummy table also includes a bottle of Aldi’s Exquisite New Zealand Pinot Noir …
