Barclaycard has launched a new service which offers shoppers unique online discounts. Beat my price, from Barclaycard’s bespokeoffers.co.uk gives bargain hunters discounts of up to 15 per cent off the products they want, taking the hassle out of finding the best price online. Cheaper way to get new glasses
Finding cheaper specs is important, especially when you consider how expensive they are.
I started wearing glasses about two years ago and bought two designer pairs from Vision Express at almost £300. Then I went to specialists as I trusted the name, but when I went with my son to get his eyes tested recently, I asked about replacing the lenses on my glasses, and they said no! I headed to Tesco, where I got a free eye test, and asked them if they would replace the lenses of my gorgeous designer glasses, and they said no.
So I’ve done some digging and this is how to get cheaper glasses:
1. See if you are entitled to NHS Optical vouchers
My kids are entitled to them and you may be entitled to them if …

10 ideas for February half term family days out
The February half term is fast approaching, and the panic of keeping the kids occupied for the week is already setting in. Our childcare costs are upwards of £50 per day, so the idea of keeping the kids at home is attractive, however, it’s also a little boring, so a day out is a must.
At the mo, there are cereal packs with one adult free circulating or there’s this useful list from AttractionTix.co.uk of 10 places to go this half term. The team there reckon that many of their deals are cheaper than the tickets that you can on the day or via the attractions website. Ripleys and the Shard are especially great as the tickets are usually £18.
Many of the attractions are in London, but with cheap rail offers and accommodation via …

What is AirBNB?
I’ve been looking at travelling more this year, but even after cheap flight deals, the price of accommodation puts me off. So I’ve been looking at Airbnb – it’s an online community marketplace that connects people looking to rent their homes with people who are looking for accommodation. Property owners are called hosts who list and rent out their unused spaces, and travelers search for and book accommodation worldwide. The service may have started appealing to budget-conscious tourists, but now even business travelers are using the service. I already offer my parking space through JustPark where strangers park on my drive, so I see the appeal in making money from unused spaces and from a travellers point of view, a cheaper place to sleep than a hotel. Anyway, I’ve done a little bit of digging… -

9 ways to make your grocery shopping cheaper
From cash back apps, to making lists, here are some tips to making your grocery shopping cheaper.
Plan ahead and write a list
This is such a common sense piece of advice, but it works. Planning meals for the week ahead, checking what you already have and writing a list of what you need will increase your chances of only buying what you need and preventing overspending.
Use a supermarket comparison site
Mysupermarket.com is an independent site that allows users to shop across 9 stores to optimise their grocery shop. It does a lot of number crunching and analysis of information that it gathers, and that raw data is turned into digestible information that customers can use each time they shop.
Use cashback sites to redeem cash on everyday shopping
The UK’s two major cashback …

Free WiFi for York city centre
I thought you might be interested to hear that there is now free WiFi for all residents and visitors of York.
This initiative offers real money saving incentives to those wishing to travel to York, as well as long term saving for those working in the city.
York may be one of the most historic cities in the UK, but it is also fast becoming one of the most digitally connected with free unlimited WiFi now available across large parts of the city centre.
Free WiFi from CityConnect, provided by a company called Pinacl Solutions, can be accessed throughout many areas of the city, including key landmarks such as the historic York Minster, and at all six of the city’s Park & Ride terminals.
From cobbled street The Shambles to the famous York Dungeons, …

Always use cash back sites
I use Topcashback and always check it for listed retailers when buying online. If the retailer is listed, and most are, you simple click from Topcashback’s website and your visit will be registered and shop as normal. Then after a few weeks, the cash back is credited to your account. I make hundreds a year doing this.

Shop ALDI for basics
I bake a lot and ALDI flour, sugars, jams and more are really competitively priced. For dry ingredients, ALDI can save you loads. I also buy milk, certain meats and veggies there. Most products are good quality and great value compared to the big four supermarkets.

Travel Lodge Greenwich review – bargain hotel easily accessible for central London
Late last year, Travel Lodge contacted me and offered me an opportunity to try out one of their newly refurbished hotel rooms, so for a spot of Xmas shopping I tried out the hotel in Greenwich in December. The room would have cost me around £80, which is great value for a double in London.
With a luxurious Sleepeeze Dreamer bed that has over 950 pockets springs, the bed was the first plus. The hotel offered all the basics at very reasonable prices. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The hotel had clean and comfortable rooms, with a small but modern ensuite good breakfast and room service when needed and a sensibly-designed building, which was easy to get around.
There was a big flat screen tv in the room but I didn’t try any of …

Save money on a new car – haggling not necessary
Not all of us can afford a brand new car; that’s a fact. Even when 0% finance deals are taken into account, the monthly repayments are often still too high for many of us to afford.
Considering all the great finance deals available, however, there’s never been a better time to consider purchasing a brand new set of wheels. Recent analysis from an online platform that allows users to compare quotes for brand new cars found that, in some cases, cars ina used condition with a few thousand miles on the clock can actually often work out to be more expensive than buying that same model brand new. Why? Purely because of those finance deals I mentioned earlier.
It’s highly unlikely that you’ll ever get 0% finance on a used car, but plenty of manufacturers …
