Save money when calling utility companies and your bank from your mobile phone
Are you moving house, changing banks or shopping around for a new deal on your insurance, gas and electric and want to avoid any nasty surprises on your mobile phone bill? Then I’ve found a new mobile phone service that could be of interest.
More and more of us are using our mobile phone to call utility companies and banks when on the move rather than waiting until we get home to use our landline and if you have just moved or a renting, you may not have a landline installed. So with many companies using 0800, 0808, 0870, 0845 and 03 numbers for their customer services team, we all risk extortionate and frustrating call charges, as it can cost up to 35p per minute to call these numbers from many Pay As You Go …

List of international online retailers shipping free to the UK
After all the Black Friday and Cyber Monday mayhem I came across a site worth mentioning – www.myinternationalshopping.com contains a directory off all the international online retailers who offer free shipping to the UK. Buying from sites in the US, Hong Kong and Europe can save you up to 40% on UK prices.
For many stores the last order date for Christmas delivery is 10thDecember so you need to get your skates on, although many US retailers offer a free upgrade to express shipping on the run up to Christmas which extends final order dates to around 18thDecember!
A report commissioned by Paypal last year estimated that there will be 18.5 million cross border shoppers in the UK by 2018 spending up to £18 billion a year so it’s definitely a growing money saving trend!…

Online calendar of Xmas discounts for retailers, pubs and more
I was recently given a heads-up about a series of festive discounts coming from Voucher Express, which will give people everywhere a chance to scoop some money off at a number of big high street retailers.
The promotion is called ’12 Days of Christmas’ and from Monday, November 24 the doors of their online advent calendar will start to open and reveal new discounts. The contents of each door are a mystery at the moment, but I have been given some clues as to what they involve.
There are discounts at two high street jewellers, a nationwide restaurant chain, cash off at many pubs up and down the country, savings on luxury spa days, free cups of coffee at a well-known café brand, money off at two big chocolate companies, and more.

DIY divorce – saving money at a tough time
An odd post for a bargain hunter you may think, but I have two friends who have paid out a lot while getting divorced, and so am interested in finding advice for another two who are going through divorces now ;-(.
From the two recently divorced friends one paid £40,000 in solicitor’s fees to get her ex out of her house. The other got £4,000 out of a possible £30,000 because her legal costs took up the rest.
I got hold of a sort of bible I would say for all those divorcing, whether they DIY or not – DIY Divorce and Separation, an expert guide to representing yourself. It demystifies the legal process and provides the parties involved with the know-how and confidence to handle a divorce themselves or understand what your barrister …

When a bargain is not a bargain
No one wants to pay over the odds. We all like to say that we paid at little as possible for the things we buy, but sometimes what we think is a bargain isn’t really worth the money paid out for it.
From now on cheap is a word I have decided to ban from my blog. I don’t want to use cheap products, and the word cheap can have negative connotations. Instead I want good value and that to me means a bargain.
Because of the recession, and the price of food and fuel going up, shoppers are demanding lower and lower prices, and this means that there are lots of cheap products on the market.
But it’s not a good bargain, if it is only going to fall apart within a few days …

No pizza delivery saves us £600
Earlier this year, I booked us a nice holiday, but it was definitely over budget, so I have looked at ways to save us money. This year so far we have saved £600 on not getting pizza delivered once a week.
In 2013, every week without fail, we would order a Pizza Hut delivery. We are a family of four and it would usually cost a minimum of £20. It was a scrumy treat and the only food we ever have delivered.
I wondered if we could get away with no delivery pizza and we have – quite easily. We’ve had a couple deliveries but it hasn’t become a habit like it was before. The easiest thing is that when we need pizza, we just head to the freezer.
Now I’m not a pizza aficionado, …

Best supermarket comparison site? Mysupermarket.com?
In the recent Channel 4 Dispatches Supermarket Wars, a supermarket shopping site/app was mentioned. Well it was Mysupermarket.com. I’ve had a few queries looking for it, so I thought I’d give you some useful facts about it.
What is Mysupermarket.com?
Mysupermarket.com is more than a price comparison site. The independent site allows users to shop across 9 stores to optimise their grocery shop.
It does a lot of number crunching and analysis of information that it gathers, and that raw data is turned into digestible information that customers can use each time they shop.
What are the most useful things I can use the website for?
There are a range of cool features that help users to make the best shopping decisions:
– Throughout the customer journey, a user can view a Trolley comparison…

Price comparison site review – PriceSpy
Who has time to manually check hundreds of sites to ensure they’re getting the best deal? Not many people, so price comparison sites are essential to get the best prices.
While many of these are full of adverts and affiliations, it’s interesting to see one that is impartial and quick and easy to use. I’ve been using PriceSpy.co.uk recently and found it to be just that. Here’s a few examples of how it works and how it could save you money.
At the moment they have 3,290,000 indexed prices, 659,000 products, 5,140,000 product properties, along with hundreds of thousands of product and shop ratings.
The search function from the home page gives instant results so it takes just a few seconds to find the type of product you want. The results clearly display the lowest …

Website and app for finding cheap petrol – PetrolPrices.com
With London and other cities threatening to impose a diesel tax, on top of all the other taxes faced by motorists, finding ways of cutting the costs of motoring have never been more important. And, with another fuel price war kicking off between supermarkets, tracking down the best deals could save drivers a few pretty pennies.
Asda kicked off the price war earlier this week by capping petrol at 124.7 p per litre and 128.7 p per litre on diesel across its 234 forecourts this weekend. Tesco and Sainsbury’s have also jumped aboard the petrol-price-drop wagon lowering their prices.
With the petrol price wars raging, I’ve found www.PetrolPrices.com – a website that helps users to search for the cheapest petrol in their area or across the UK quickly and at no cost, allowing them to …
