Beat Amazon book prices with Flubit right here, right now
Thought Amazon was the cheapest option for buying books? Think again! I recently heard about the great work that ‘demand-driven’ marketplace Flubit.com is doing with the National Literacy Trust for their Book Month and found that Flubit’s prices on books are much more reasonable.
Usually accessible by invitation only, for Book Month Flubit.com has removed the invite step so new users can sign up and demand better offers on all their favourite books. Whether its romance, thriller, mystery, kids, fiction, whatever type of book you’re after, beat Amazon prices and get a better price for your book at Flubit.com/books. I am going to show you exactly how with some examples down below!
As I explained in my previous post on Flubit, it is on online marketplace, much like Amazon or eBay but with …

New app – reduce currency exchange costs – WeSwap
I use the Post Office and M&S for currency exchange, but am always open to new ideas. Sometimes when my Dutch or French friends come over, I swap Pounds for Euros, and that got me thinking – is there a formal service for this?
I found an app called WeSwap and here’s the skinny on what it is if you want to cut down currency exchange costs.
What is WeSwap?
WeSwap provides travellers with “very competitive” rates on their foreign currency. This is achieved by enabling travellers across the world to swap currency directly with each other. WeSwap cuts out the need for expensive banks and bureau de change kiosks in the holiday money market.
Who is it for?
WeSwap can be used by anyone who is planning on travelling abroad, who needs money to …

Online grocery shopping comparison – updated August 2014
Since my first comparison back in January 2014, Morrison’s has launched an online grocery shopping offer, so I thought I’d revisit the services supermarkets’ offer.
From prices, delivery costs to minimum order value and customer service, which online grocery store wins my comparison? Remember I positioned myself as a first time online grocery shopper. Here are my findings when comparing Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, Ocado, Waitrose and Sainsbury’s. For each section, I have put my top supermarket in position 1 and overall I have to say that Morrisons wins on this occasion and you’ll see why – please let me know of your experiences in the comments.
Prices
This time I used mysupermarket.co.uk (a supermarket shopping comparison site) to give me the best price across 20 every day items including a trolley of toilet paper, …

How many everyday things do you need to give up to get a flight?
Check out this ‘Holiday Sacrifice Calculator’ which has worked out how many popular every day items to give up to get a return flight to a destination (i.e sacrificing your morning mocha for just two and half weeks and you could be drinking espressos in Italy!).
We gave up takeaway pizza earlier this year and have saved over £500 – we do have the odd cheeky take out once in a while, or it would have been more – so I know that giving up just one thing can save some serious cash. By the looks of it, I could have flown to Italy most weekends this year!
Some samples of what you could save are here and I’ve managed to snag an interesting infographic below too:
1. Sacrificing eighteen takeaway coffees = drinking espresso …

Can Flubit really get you the best price online?
I remember seeing the Flubit team at an internet event last year. The company promised to beat prices for products when shopping online. It’s taken me a while, but I wanted to share what they are about, so here’s all you need to know. I would love to know what your experiences of Flubit are in the comments below.
What is Flubit.com?
Flubit.com is on online marketplace, much like Amazon or eBay but with one major difference – instead of listing pages and pages of various products, offers and discounts, you simply enter the URL (that’s the web-link, e.g. www….) of the Amazon item you wish to buy, and Flubit returns a better offer up to 15% lower on that exact item with one of their own suppliers.
Why should you use Flubit.com?
There …

I got £100 for bad service today
I got £100 for receiving bad service from a bank today.
I wasn’t expecting that but after trying to switch accounts for over six weeks, and the bank being unable to make a change this afternoon, after I had been told that it was possible over the phone, I decided to complain.
I was taken into a side room, the complaints procedure explained and my complaint documented. At no time did I ask for or expect £100.
At the beginning of the meeting, they asked me what I would like to do next with the bank, i.e. what I wanted to achieve as a result of the complaint. I said that in all honesty I didn’t want to bank with them any more, but the interest rate is so good that I would be silly …

Great priced holiday essentials
The holiday’s booked and it’s time to get thinking about what to take. Unless you’re off to the deepest darkest jungle, you can pick up most things abroad, but there’s always a bit of a price hike around holiday hotspots, and you can’t always guarantee you get what you want.
So here’s some ideas for holiday essentials check list that are reasonably priced, and I’ve tried to keep the items to under £10 each.

Tips on saving money on holidays
I am all for saving money on holidays, so was interested to see travel company Expedia.co.uk says it is developing new tools to help take the stress out of travel planning.
They released some research today and I have taken their information on where Brits are failing to save on their holidays and some top tips to save money on your holiday.
Apparently, last year those who booked flight and hotel together with Expedia.co.uk saved over £200 on average, so I guess they know a thing or two about saving money.
Where Brits fail to save money on holidays
- Just two fifths (40%) of Brits search for seasonal sales prior to booking a holiday.
- A mere 6% take advantage of discounts by booking through mobile and just 11% subscribe for newsletter exclusive deals.
- Only 22%
