Aldi to launch online grocery store
I can’t wait. Earlier this year, an Aldi spokesperson gave an interview to a German food mag and revealed that it is planning to launch an online store in the UK, and the news has popped up again today as Aldi released some financial results. With the size of the online grocery sector and the other major retailers already with an online presence, it makes so much sense. They already sell alcoholic drinks online in Australia since 2013, but a UK e-commerce grocery store launch would be the first real online attempt in Europe. There doesn’t seem to be a launch date, but 2016 is being bandied about, and I hope they get their skates on!UK is the ideal test market
We love our online grocery shopping, so although Aldi has stores in other countries, apparently …

New free food sharing app – OLIO
I recently wrote about what to do with things you don’t want anymore, so was excited to hear about OLIO, a new free food sharing app enabling neighbours to connect with each other and with local shops and cafes so that good food can be shared, not thrown away.
The company’s mission is to enable people to unlock the value of food that is wasted in the home and local community – over £12.5 billion of edible food is binned every year in the UK alone!
The team is trying to change the way people think about food and their behaviour and routines around food. It’s a tall order but they’ve already had over 700 food items change hands since they launched in July in a small corner of North London. On Monday, …

New app for booking bargain holiday homes
In the third of my last minute travel ideas for the summer holidays, I thought I’d take a look at holidays from a holiday home owner’s point of view, and see how they can offer discounts direct to consumers.
If you own a holiday home, you’ll surely hate to see it empty, particularly during the peak summer months. Many are more than happy to offer huge last minute discounts in order to fill up their calendar.
Snaptrip is a new marketplace that helps owners to offers discounts of up to 50% on the largest collection of self-catered properties in the UK. Which is great for spontaneous holidaymakers!
By partnering with both individual owners and some of the biggest property management agencies in the country, Snaptrip has made searching for your dream cottage a quick and …

Then put 30th July in your diary and head to Aldi to get your fix of retro chic this summer. Aldi Specialbuys new Vintage Home range goes into store that day, and I for one will be rushing down there, to see what else I can get hold of. Here are my favourites.
Vintage Bedspread – £24.99 & Vintage Duvet Set – from £14.99
I love, love, love patchwork type bedding, so when I got my mitts onto the Vintage Bedspread that Aldi is bringing out at the end of this month, I was overjoyed. Patchwork anything costs a fortune, so at £24.99 for the bedspread, it’s a snip and it even fits my superking …

Men trump women when it comes to money saving (apparently)
I saw the results of an interesting survey today…. and I had a good laugh at them. Men are better at saving money than women, apparently. Not in my house they aren’t! But then again, are we women more tempted to spend money on frivolous shopping sprees and guys really only get what they need? Our smaller purchases may lead to more money spent than our fellas, who make a few big purchases a year….
The comments about Londoners being best at saving is probably because they are desperately saving for the huugggge deposits needed to buy any property there. I also know plenty of people who run out of money before pay day, and who don’t even have a handle on their finances, so can relate to the points the survey results cover.
Anyway, …
