Online grocery shopping during coronavirus
Online shopping will probably increase as more of us need to self-isolate, so I thought I would do a round up here of what is going on, from supermarket chain Morrisons announcing that it is to create 3,500 new jobs to expand its home delivery service amid the coronavirus pandemic to Ocado shutting down its entire website until 21 March to work out how it can offer more slots.
I have used copy from the grocers’ websites and news we find. If you have any updates, please put in comments and I will try to update daily.

Update: Best supermarket for online grocery shopping – a comparison
Time to see how the online supermarket shopping world has changed. I looked at Waitrose, Ocado, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and Asda. I know that Iceland delivers, but I find that their range is limited, so I am not including them.
I evaluated the supermarkets on the following and in each category, the top supermarket comes in at position 1. Of course, one position 1 doesn’t mean everything is fanastic, so my top supermarket is the one that has the highest number of 1s and 2s, and this time we have joint winners: Ocado and Tesco, but remember if you want quality food, go to Waitrose, but be ready to pay more…it’s really up to you, but I hope that my research will help you.

It’s been a while since I updated my comparison of supermarkets that do home deliveries, so here is my research of the following online grocery providers – Waitrose, Ocado, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and Asda. Online grocery shopping experience – Morrisons
I’ve been a bit unwell since December and have had to resort to online shopping. I have used Tesco for a while and thought that as Morrisons came out top in my latest online grocery shopping comparison (on paper), I had better try it out in person. Here are the good and bad points:
Good things about shopping at Morrisons online
1. I seemed to get more value for money
My shop was 75 items and cost just over £100, whereas 74 items from Tesco were £173 just before Xmas with lots of vouchers. I know that I haven’t done a like for like comparison, but I pretty much buy the same things every week, so the shop was cheaper.
2. There were lots of discounted products clearly visible

Online grocery shopping comparison – updated August 2014
Since my first comparison back in January 2014, Morrison’s has launched an online grocery shopping offer, so I thought I’d revisit the services supermarkets’ offer.
From prices, delivery costs to minimum order value and customer service, which online grocery store wins my comparison? Remember I positioned myself as a first time online grocery shopper. Here are my findings when comparing Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, Ocado, Waitrose and Sainsbury’s. For each section, I have put my top supermarket in position 1 and overall I have to say that Morrisons wins on this occasion and you’ll see why – please let me know of your experiences in the comments.
