My visit to the Primark megastore in Birmingham
The world’s biggest Primark store is definitely worth a visit. We went in the first few days and it was packed, apart from the men’s department, so if you need some space, head down there.
The 160,000 square foot mega store spread over five floors opened its doors on 11 April 2019. It’s huge, fun and cheap.
I was really impressed by the Game of Thrones, Harry Potter and Disney sections….they even have a Primark Cafe with Disney.
Primark began as a single store in Dublin in June 1969 and you can’t find one in every town.
There’s even a beauty studio called Duck & Dry where shoppers can have their make-up and nails done, their eyelashes extended and their eyebrows plucked – Primark beauty price list below.
There are even a personal shopping service, …

Everything you need to know about new discount retailer Star Bargains
I just recently came across Star Bargains and was attracted by their half price Thorntons chocolates, so had to investigate further, so here’s what you need to know:
What is Star Bargains?
StarBargains.co.uk is a new website that has been launched by Yorkshire’s favourite bargain food retailer, Fultons Foods, that offers at least 50% off supermarket prices. It offers an ever-changing selection of food and drink products from big name brands at significantly lower prices than supermarkets, as it sells items sourced both direct from manufacturers and from supermarkets’ surplus stock.
Are your products items that have short shelf lives?
Karen Gunter, director at Fultons Foods, said: “We offer deals on food and drink items which have been sourced directly from manufacturers or bought as surplus stock. In addition to this, we also sell …

Update: Best supermarket for online grocery shopping – a comparison
Time to see how the online supermarket shopping world has changed. I looked at Waitrose, Ocado, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and Asda. I know that Iceland delivers, but I find that their range is limited, so I am not including them.
I evaluated the supermarkets on the following and in each category, the top supermarket comes in at position 1. Of course, one position 1 doesn’t mean everything is fanastic, so my top supermarket is the one that has the highest number of 1s and 2s, and this time we have joint winners: Ocado and Tesco, but remember if you want quality food, go to Waitrose, but be ready to pay more…it’s really up to you, but I hope that my research will help you.
Categories evaluated on were delivery charges, Minimum spend, Delivery …

New Look men coming to Birmingham
Well I never, I didn’t know that New Look had a meanswear store….well anyway, one is coming to Birmingham’s Bullring shopping centre.
Due to open in March 2017, work has begun on the store and hoardings are up at the moment, bearing the words: “New Look Men Coming Soon – Make some space in your wardrobe”.
I must admit that I like New Look for accessories, but prefer a little more quality in my clothing, however, if you are super fashion conscious, are saving for a house, are budgeting or have a growing lad, you may not wear the same items as often as I do, so New Look is a good find.
At the menswear store you’ll be able to pick up bomber jackets from £25, skinny jeans from £20 and T-shirts from …

Looking to save money in the kitchen – Domu sale might help
The Domu sale is on. With hundreds of stylish and functional kitchen, garden and homeware appliances, the website is worth a look, especially with prices cut on a number of items that can save you money, for example slow cookers for batch cooking!
The sale is on right now across the company’s VonShef and VonHaus brands. If you haven’t heard about Domu, they are a home and lifestyle brand and I think some of their sale products would be of interest to bargain hunters like you and me, such as the VonShef 8-in-1 multi cooker which has 8 different cooking functions including roasting, searing and slow cooking and is perfect for cooking batch meals for the week (or more) – it’s down to £49.99 from £74.99. It really is value for money, as it has …

Mrs Bargain Hunter visits Poundstretcher
As a diehard pound and discount store fan, I was excited to make my first ever visit to Poundstretcher.
Like my visits to Aldi, I had to get in the car for this one as the nearest store is just under four miles away, but as it’s on the same bit of town as another Aldi and a lot of other fab discount stores like Wilkinsons. I am getting the feeling that you’ll only find Poundstretcher in “discount” locations or parts of town, and I hadn’t visited before as I usually didn’t get down that far this strip of shops.
Anyway, first impressions were mixed. I could see some great enticements outside, but when I got in the store, I was hit immediately with the dried food and tins aisle….let’s just say, I was a …

List of award winning products from Aldi
I am such a fan of the value that I get from Aldi that I decided to write the ultimate list of things to get from there. I know that the prices will be good, but what products have been independently judged to be tasty or good at their job?
These are the products that have won awards in the last 12 months from Aldi below. A lot of the resaerch was done by trawling the internet, but I also found a fab site that lists super market product awards:
Aldi Specially Selected Fillet Steak Anco Concentrated Fabric Softener Soft Sensations 4X1L Atlas Enviroshield Fly Spray 350G Berg Deli Ham Off The Bone 175G Casa Barelli Italian Ristorante Flavoured Pizza Bases 2Pk Coco Loco Coconut Oil Coco Loco Coconut Water Deli Originals Snack N Go …

Heartbroken and angry – goodbye BHS
As the last of the BHS stores closed down, I sadly looked at my loyalty card…had it for 15 years….and threw it away.
No more 5% discount when I shop for their fab kids clothes, pjs, men’s undies and even clothes for me. Where will I get our Christmas jumpers from this year? Their towels and bed linens, and oh the lights – I loved their lights…really good value but great quality. I think in years of shopping there, I took back one thing. The quality for the price was fantastic.
I was in the Oxford Street, London, branch a few weeks ago and grabbed myself a bargain, but I would have been happy not to if the store would still be open today.
I am actually angry that thousands of people start this week …
