Ever heard of Secretsales? Designer flash sales site
While I am not desperate to wear designer all the time, I do like to buy some items that have recognisable name brands, such as Chanel, Radley, Berghaus, Northface and Birkenstock.
They all have high quality and high price associated with them, so I decided to do some digging into designer flash sales sites where branded items are sold for a fraction of their RRP and found Secret Sales.
I asked them some questions and this is what I got in response in my interview with the store:
1 – What is secretsales.com?
secretsales.com is a flash sales website and selling good quality clothing, accessories, cosmetics, lingerie, homeware and much more. With everything from the latest must have clutch bag from Alexander McQueen through to an iconic fragrance at Burberry or the softest suede …

Riding gear at Aldi – special buy
Now I must admit that I do buy Aldi’s ski gear, so was interested to see that they have a new equestrian range for 2014.
I am sad that Aldi do a “once it’s gone it’s gone” policy, but I also like the excitement of thinking what treasure will I find in store this week. Rather like when Tchibo had stores in the UK, I loved those guys too.
Unfortunately, I know that you may read this post after July 2014, the range is in shops from 24 July, so where possible I have listed other places to buy great value riding gear online in case you miss the great deal at Aldi.
I must admit while looking around, I can see that Aldi offers seriously good value and it was too hard to find …

Mrs Bargain visits Peacocks
Peacocks definitely has thrown off its fuddy duddy image. I went in for the first time in years as a new branch has opened up near me.
What I found was florals, maxi dresses, jumpsuits and much more. The store manager was really sweet and when I asked him what the best sellers were, he took me around the store and showed me about 20 items, including a sort of boho range called Post Script.
I would say that the store catered more for the younger ladies now, from teens to 30s, with a small but decent range for men and much younger children and babies. There is a permanent 10% off for students and the prices were really good compared to Marks and Spencers and Next, but of course you get what you pay …

Sainsbury’s and Netto join together in discount wars
I was genuinely surprised to hear that Danish discounter Netto is joining up with Sainsbury’s to take on discount rivals Aldi and Lidl.
The joint venture will see the launch of 15 Netto stores by the end of 2015 along the M62 corridor. Up against Aldi’s 500 stores and Lidl’s 600, it’s a brave move.
Aldi and Lidl have taken 8% of the UK grocery market and there seems to be an appetite for discount stores even though the economy is on the upturn again. Looks like Sainsbury’s is taking on the philosophy of ‘if you can’t beat them join them’.
Netto had stores in the UK till 2010 and its return will see it offering a limited range of branded products, such as Heinz and Coca-Cola. Much of the rest of its goods will …

Mrs Bargain Hunter’s visit to Sparkhill
I needed 10 meters of fabric, but from £8 a meter at John Lewis, I was looking at £80, so decided to head to Sparkhill to pick up fabric, spices, party gear and more.
Sparkhill is an Asian area in Birmingham. Around the country, there are plenty of predominantly Asian areas, from Brick Lane and Southall in London to Rusholme in Manchester.
What they all have in common is bright colours, crazy smells and a whole load of bargains.
If you are sensitive about clean side streets, these areas are not for you.
My main reason for going was fabrics. The fabric shops are fantastic. I got fabric for £2.50 – £3 per metre, rather than from £8 in John Lewis. You get a wide choice at really good prices. Also, anything to do with …

Best grocery supermarket Click and Collect Service
Which grocers has the handiest Click & Collect service? I did some investigating and here’s what I found.
I’m very busy and out a lot this week, but am hosting a party so need to pick up food. While, I am excited to think that soon we’ll be able to pick up lots of items from a corner shop, or a nearby locker rather than having to schlep to a supermarket, I’ve investigated which grocer would accommodate me the best this week with its Click and Collect service….. here are the findings of my comparison:
Price
Asda, Tesco, Waitrose and Sainsbury’s* all offer free click and collect services.
Charges can apply for tube station pick ups though, for example, £1.50 for Asda.
* Sainsbury’s does not offer Click and Collect for groceries :-(.

Mrs Bargain Hunter’s visit to Asda
My nearest Asda was seven miles away until last week, so I thought I’d take a look at the new store which is a mere three miles away now, and I was impressed.
I came out with my weekly shop, clothes, shoes and bits and pieces for the house for less than £150.
I was particularly impressed with the George range of clothes. I know they have been around for ages, but Asda has never really been accessible to me, so I was thrilled to pick up men’s jeans at £6 a pop – great for every day, gardening etc, older boys sleeveless school shirts at £5 for two, a couple of kids t-shirts at £4 each, £7 kids sweatshirt and £8 canvas pumps.
I am not sure if Asda is classed as a discount …

Bhs launches new good value clothing range for the fashionable 40+
I must admit, I do buy a lot of clothes at Bhs, so was glad to hear about its launch of a new trendy collection for ladies in their 40s and 50s who want to be fashionable, rather than be written off as dowdy.
I personally like their £15 jeans, petites range, workwear and boho tops and think they offer good value clothing. The kids clothes are very good quality, especially the smarter wear.
Apparently the new fashion collection “strives to appeal to style conscious shoppers in their forties and fifties.”
Philip Green who owns the store told The Sunday Times newspaper: “We are going to provide aspirational clothing that’s good quality and good value. The expression I use in the office is I want to sell steak cheap but not cheap steak – there …
