Don’t fill up just yet – petrol prices about to drop?
I have a friend who’s just been made redundant from her oil sector job, she says that the oil companies are in troupble as oil heads for a price crash and petrol prices are predicted to fall by more than 13p to 86p a litre.
Big banks such as Standard Chartered, RBS, Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs say that a worldwide glut of oil (there’s a global oil lake apparently) would send costs to an 18-year low, and keep prices down. That is just fantastic news after the high prices of the last few years. The RAC reckons that drivers would be enjoying the cheapest fuel since 2009 with savings of around £180 a year for a family hatchback.
There could be a price war as at supermarket forecourts, we are already paying 99.9p for …

Five ways to earn money via the sharing economy
Over the last few years, increasingly a number of ways have appeared where you can make money by sharing services that you can give to others. From sharing your drive to sharing a lift, there are ways to make money really easily. Here are my favourites:
1. Just Park
If you have a parking space, rent it out. We rent out a space and we also use the service to rent a space near Gatwick. It was much cheaper than the official car parks. You can rent your drive, garage or allocated parking spot, by the hour, day, week or month. It’s up to you what you charge, but you can punch in your post code and work out the going rate pretty easily.
2. AirBNB
Whether you have a spare room or a whole …

Dirtiest time of the year? Save on keeping clothes clean
Muddy rugby or football kit as the season kicks off, Halloween, Bonfire Night, walks in the rain and mud, Christmas and New Year all in the space of a few months, means that stains are inevitable.
While I do try to cover stains, it’s a pain, so I have over 10 school shirts for the boys, two pairs of trousers each and enough clothes so that they don’t have to rely on me washing stuff every day…but that doesn’t stop me getting a little bit mad when the pile of stained clothes gets bigger.
I did a little test recently and compared stain remover and detergent boosters Vanish to ACE Gentle and they both did the same job. As ACE Gentle is significantly cheaper, I asked the guys at ACE Gentle to share some advice …

How to avoid paying 5p for a plastic bag
As of 5 October all supermarket plastic bags will cost 5p, even though small ones you get from M&S. Now what’s 5p between friends? Well actually quiet a lot when you think about how that amount mounts up over the year.
There are exceptions, like smaller retailers don’t have to charge, and bags that you get fish or medicine in should be free!
So what is a poor shopper to do to avoid the charge:
Invest in a bag for life
I’ve had my Tesco hessian bags and Tchibo bags for years – they are such good quality. My Sainsburys bags have ripped at the seams, so do check the quality of any bag you buy.
Carry plastic bags with you
I take one with me in my handbag, and always have lots in …
